I eat. Do you eat too? OMG! We should totally be friends.
Sometimes I eat healthy foods and sometimes I eat not-so-healthy foods. Every day I find myself eating food of some kind or another. Let me tell you all about it.
First, I’ll fill you in on the pertinent and mundane details of my background, just so you know. My name is Gretchen and I am a 38 year old wife and mother of three. I have worked full-time outside the home since I was 17 years old and last year, pregnant with our third child, I left the 9-5 grind behind. That’s right, I traded in a damn good paycheck and a promising career in securities compliance for an unpaid 24 hour-a-day gig as a stay-at-home wife and mom. Crazy much? I have enjoyed cooking and baking since I was a child and have always wished I had more time to devote pursuing these interests. Naively, I thought the SAH realm would provide that time. Alas, I have found that I was delusional. My kids are currently 5 years old, 18 months old, and almost 1 month old. And I am homeschooling the 5 year old. So, as you can imagine, time is not on my side for pursing my culinary dreams.
But that’s not going to stop me. Because I like to eat. Every day. And so do my husband and kids. While I might be willing to go for days on end subsisting on nothing but Che.ese Puffs and Mount.ain Dew, the other people in my home demand more. The 18 month old especially; she demands “fish cwackews” at every turn.
I make the menus; I do the shopping; I do the cooking and baking; and sadly, I do most of the cleaning up as well.
So here I shall henceforth chronicle what my family eats. I’ll post the menu plans, recipes, pictures, stories, failures and hits, shopping successes and disasters.
Join me as I feed my family – and maybe yours!
